Coleman's Pygmy Seahorse - Green Island (16-20Jun10) C 632 (A3).jpg
Green Island, Taiwan -- Coleman's Pygmy Seahorse

This species is tiny! The one shown on the photo was about 7 mm in length. But that pretty much constitutes the size of an adult Coleman's pygmy seahorse, which are known to grow to only about a centimeter.

Because of its tiny size and its good camouflage - the mainly white/yellowish seahorse lives in sea grass with white and green leaves - this seahorse is not spotted very often, and many divers who have tried to find it on Green Island came up empty. We got lucky that we found one!
